St. Thomas More Parish School Board

Minutes of the August 11, 2010 Meeting

 

 

President Tracy Conner called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. and Stephanie Jackson led the opening prayer.  Present for the meeting were Tracy Conner,  Nadine Mouser, Mark Embree, Doug Livermore, Stephanie Jackson, Brent Broussard,  Steve Hochstein and Lowell Garney.

 

Mrs. Mouser reported on the theme for the upcoming school year, as well as, the start of school schedule and activities.  Twelve staff members will be honored for their years of service at the Archdiocesan Opening of School Mass on August 12.  Cardinal DiNardo will celebrate the Mass and Fr. Oliver and Fr. Christopher will be among the concelebrants..

 

Mrs. Prado’s Development Report itemized funds received from the Kroger Share Program, In Memoriam donations, recycling, Matching Funds Programs, and the Lily Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Advertisements about STM school were placed in the Back to School Edition and the Festivals and Bazaar Edition of the Houston Chronicle.

 

The treasurer reported that due to capital expenses for the gym and new music room expenses for the 2009-2010 budget fell 2% short of revenue.

 

Mrs. Mouser indicated that computer and video equipment in the school is being checked and made ready for the upcoming school year.  Some replacement equipment has been purchased.

 

Summer work on the school buildings and grounds included a sprinkler system and landscaping in front of the preschool, painting in some classrooms, new carpet in one room, and some landscape work in the prayer garden.  The warranty year is about to expire on the new gym so Will Hanson is compiling a list of items to be presented to the builder.

 

Several marketing ideas were discussed including a new tag line to be used in advertising and more ways to advertise the success of our graduates.  The suggestion was made to see about the possibility of having permanent space in the parish bulletin to promote the activities of the school.

 

Mark Embree motioned that the meeting be adjourned and Doug Livermore seconded the motion.   The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m. with a closing prayer led by Brent Broussard.
